The fireball was very large (if I held a quarter out in my hand it would look roughly the same size) and it traveled slower than any shooting star I've ever seen. This was the second of two fireballs we saw within approximately 5 minutes of each other. I submitted a separate report for the first fireball we saw. We didn't hear any sound but there were still residual fireworks occasionally so we might not have been able to tell if it was the fireball or the fireworks making the sound.) This was DEFINITELY NOT fireworks. The two fireballs had the same size and trajectory, however this one (the second one) looked slightly different in that it had almost what I would describe as "sparkles" coming out of the sides. We both mentioned agreed that the sparkles had some color - almost a red and blue?? We laughed that it was a patriotic meteor. Again, I am 100% sure this was not fireworks. We had watched plenty of fireworks around the lake that night and this was much much higher than a firework could go. I reported the time as 10:30, however it could have been any time between 10 and 11 PM. I did not have a watch or phone with me at the time but my friends husband had noted it was 10:00 and headed into bed roughly 25-35 minutes before we saw it. After we saw the second one we watched for a while longer before heading to bed and I noted it was 11pm when we entered the cabin. |
