Saw this begin somewhat northeast of downtown San Diego. It was far larger and brighter than a shooting star or the meteors observed during showers. It was moving much faster than the planes in the flight path visible from my home.

The light was behind the fog, so diffused, it looked like a white to yellow trail about as wide as the light and ended lighter and smaller than it originated.
