Reports Report 727a (Event 727-2008)

Observer
Name Bill F
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks The meteor appeared the same size as the full moon. I could see particles coming off the leading edge of the sphere. It moved horizontally west to east and I viewed it for approx. 20 to 30 seconds. Like a bright moon, I could see it in sharp detail, the white glowing sphere with rivers of red/orange flowing on the surface from top to bottom which were moving. At theend there was a bright blue crisp flame 3/4s of the way up the sphere. No noise, as I watched it go from the front of my property and finally disappear behind trees approx. 30 seconds later. It was moving in a slow, steady horizontal pace and may have dipped slightly toward the horizon at the end of my viewing. I asked one astronomer if it could have been an irridium flare? I\'ve been looking for an answer since 2008 that makes sense, fireball is a nice catch all. Any ideas? Thanks
