| Remarks | We were driving in our car so I cannot report if the fireball made any sound. The fireball seemed to get smaller either because it was moving "away" from where we were, or because it was burning into a smaller ball until it eventually stopped and became black. It seems more likely that the ball itself was reduced in size as well as moving away from us. It appeared to have "landed" in nearby woods, if the ball had in fact survived its fiery journey to earth. We believe the fireball shot from the East and traveled to West to slight North West. |

| Remarks | I'm not sure how to measure the trail in degrees. The fire trail was fairly long but the smoke trail was even longer. The fireball was much larger and much closer than any shooting star I have ever seen. In fact I was sure for a moment it was going to collide with the earth. There was a streak of "fire" (red, white, yellow) trailing behind along with a line of smoke. After the fireball disappeared, it left behind a trail of smoke that lasted for several minutes (as long as we could see from our drive, trail only became out of view because of our change in direction and tree line.) the trail of smoke left behind was impressively long! You could have mistaken the smoke trail for a short airplane trail. The trail seemed to look uneven (slight curvatures), and not "straight" like you would see from an airplane. The line of smoke was also much more dense than many airplane streaks I have seen. Sky was darker as it was around 8:00pm. |
