I noted that the meteor appeared to fall straight down, though really it went from the upper left to straight down in almost a u-shaped arc.

A glowing orange trail appeared all at once. Its flash seemed brighter then the moon and the meteor itself visibly separated from the trail red with with sparks. The next moment both the meteor and the trail faded away together.
