This object was bright and it lasted a very long time....longer than any other "shooting stars" or meteors I have witnessed in the sky. Long enough that I was able to get my phone out quickly and shoot video.

Remarks
The train was glowing directly behind the ball and burning ashes appeared to be falling from it. There was a bright smoke trail about 26X the diameter of the ball. (I took a video of it with my phone, and I measured a still frame of the ball and the smoke trail on the screen with my calipers.)

Fragmentation
Observation
Yes
Remarks
There were showers of what appeared to be fiery debris breaking off of it and falling behind it then burning out. Some flashed before burning up. It went over the building I was behind so I did not see a terminal explosion but I ran through the building and it was gone.
