Reports Report 821d (Event 821-2015)

Observer
Name Matthew S
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I'm sort of a space buff so I'm really interested in this sort of event. I've been fortunate enough to have seen probably 3 or 4 meteorites in my entire life but this one was by far the biggest, brightest. I was watching television and saw it out the window. I only wish I had been outside so I could have gotten a better look.

Delayed Sound
Observation Yes
Remarks I was in the house and saw this out the window. Bright white large toward front (maybe 3/4 size of full moon) with wide tapering tail streams which I assume was from the object breaking apart which lasted probably 2 or 3 seconds. I thought it was a meteorite so immediately ran outside to make sure there were no plane or helicopter noise but it was quiet no aircraft. Came back in and did hear a muffled boom (probably 2 mins after seeing it) but can't be sure if it was from this object.

Remarks -
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks Bright white object probably 3/4 size of full moon with a tapering tail probably 2 or 3 times as long as a full moon which appeared to be breaking apart from object. Lasted a good 2-3 seconds from my vantage point.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks Seemed to be coming in at a shallow angle. Large white fireball which lit the sky up and seemed as if the tail was just as bright which gradually tapered with what appeared to be smaller fragments fizzling out coming off of it. All this took place within 2-3 seconds.
