As the ball began to fade it passed over treetops that kept me from seeing if there were any further color changes as it went out completely. Would love to know what it was.

Fragmented into two distinct pieces still very bright and easily visible as it moved westward. This is when the color had begun to change to more yellow from the bright white. The two pieces and the trail were still easily visible and yellow in the sky.
