I noticed other cars on the highway also appeared to see it as more than a couple vehicles had to recover their lanes when it went whipping past.

It reminded me of video graphics I have seen of a bullet traveling in water, and then it had a disintegration effect when it turned yellow and dissipated. It has a short trail/tail of light/glow behind it.
