A friend of mine saw the fireball out of her peripheral vision and says she thought it was Turquoise. I saw it directly. A plane circled back, making a quick bank, very low to the ground. No airport is remotely near Franklin that would require a large jet to circle due to air traffic. There was no other plane in that area of the sky, especially as low as this one. After the plane flew from my view, a helicopter, as bright as the North Star, hovered over the exact spot that I saw the fireball drop. It stayed long enough for another friend of mine to believe it to be stationary, until it darted in our direction and flew above us, heading South, away from the fireball. It was a helicopter, loud and large and flew away faster than I believed a helicopter possible to go. Nothing happened afterward. No helicopters, no lights. However, the helicopter arrived within less than a minute of the fireball, and stayed for maybe one minute, and hovered directly above the area that the fireball had fell. My eyes stayed on the area of the horizon that it had dropped, and the helicopter flew into my field of vision. It approached so slow that my friend believed that at first it was a star. I made him watch until it left. |
