| Remarks | Traveling south on freeway 5 in 2nd lane from outside shoulder I observed a meteor/fireball moving in a downward direction from about a 60deg angle above my eyesight from the SW moving to SSW. The front had a bright ball of solid yellowish-white and a bright tail streaking out behindit. I saw it for half a second, then a truck moved into my view and I sped up to pass and was shocked to see the fireball was still falling and it continued for another 1.5-2 seconds before fading out meaning it lasted at least 3 seconds. Seeing the tail so bright and so low I wonder if a small meteorite resulted but am sure it would have landed in the ocean, either off the coast of the CA/TJ border, or further south off the coast of Baja Mexico. |
