Twice before alone in the 1990's near Palmer Lake CO ( I work as a RR Lineman+) I saw and heard one crackling across the western sky at an angle going south west. I was on a pole in the dark. I just stared at it in wonder. In was in the winter time I swear I could feel the heat from that direction. It was so bright! Another time I was with Our Son. It was winter 2004 we were driving NB in the city but all of us saw it again it was another fireball slowing moving SE.

about half into it I saw some pieces of different colors go away (below/above) the core of it. They didn't make it to the end they faded out.
