Reports Report 921a (Event 921-2016)

Observer
Name David S
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks We were driving southbound on Hwy 395 approximately 8:30 pm (we think) between Lone Pine, CA and Coso Junction, CA. It was a very dark stretch of highway (no street lights, billboards, gas station lights, oncoming headlights, etc). My wife (in passenger's seat) and I were admiring the stars and how beautiful they were, when we both noticed a "shooting star" in the view ahead of us (off to the right slightly). We both exclaimed "SHOOTING STAR!!" at the same time and to our amazement, the shooting star grew larger, and brighter as it made it's way to Earth! When it finally disappeared behind the tree line there was a definite brief, bright flash. We've never seen anything like it before. Amazing experience!
