Reports Report 1529gr (Event 1529-2016)

Remarks I saw only the end of the event when the meteor was low over the southern horizon. I saw it through a south-facing floor-to-ceiling window from inside, with lights on, and while working at a laptop. I noticed at least two bright flickers out the window before I looked up and saw the end of the event. After it ended I immediately checked the time on my Mac Pro laptop and obtained 21:38, which I verified by listening to WWV time signals (the laptop is accurate to within one second). However, I did not note the second when the event ended. My view to the south is down to the horizon due to the elevation of my house. I sketched the track of the meteor on the back of an envelope and used the position of trees across the street and a vertical support in my window to estimate the orientation. I estimated the end of the meteor using a compass app on an iPhone 5S. My earlier entry for the start of the meteor (such as I could see it--I couldn't see the top because the view was blocked by my roof) was wrong because I misunderstood the instructions. The southern azimuth that I could see was about 180 degrees (due south, which I checked with the compass app). After Iooked up at the meteor, it brightened at least twice more (and possibly three times) before it ended. The end of the trail was above the horizon. I estimate for the angle of descent probably has a 2-sigma uncertainty of about 15 degrees.
