I\'ve seen shooting stars in the past and they appear to be fleeting streaks far out in space. This fireball seemed unbelievably close that I thought it was a firework or missle only it appeared to be a round ball of fire with a fiery trail behind it. It moved much slower than a shooting star. I thought I would go home and turn on the news and hear of other sightings in the area but was surprised that I didn\'t. I would be curious if anyone else reported such a sighting Tuesday night in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area.

Remarks
Meteor seemed rather low in the sky heading east to west ( if the moon appears to be the size of a basketball this appeared to be the size of a softball with a train that appeared to be apprx 5 to 7 feet ). Looked like a stray firework traveling horizontily from east to west
Terminal flash

Remarks
I was standing in the middle of an urban 2 lane street with 4 story buildings on either side. I noticed it directly overhead moving from east to west and it disappeared over the rooftops. I didn\\\'t see where it ended but it appeared to be low enough that I thought it would land somewhere off in the distance.
