Reports Report 2605bf (Event 2605-2016)

Observer
Name Wayne G
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks The fireball traveled on an easterly trajectory from my horizon to horizon in less than 1/5th the time an aircraft seen at that elevation would have taken (12-15 seconds). About three quarters of the way through its trajectory, it seemed to partially burn out changing from yellow-orange to blue-white and reducing in size and brightness. It may have broken up to some degree at that point. About a half second later it regained its original brightness, size, and orange/yellow glow as it disappeared over my horizon (low buildings blocking my view). I am a pilot and used to observing. This was the largest, longest burning and fastest moving fireball I have seen. During the sighting I was able to call another witness who viewed from the same location. I did not hear any sonic boom or trailing explosion. But, she believed she did hear some sound.
