I am fortunate to live in an area of relatively dark skies and often observe meteorites. My partner has never viewed one which I have in the past found frustrating. This evening I was able to point out what appeared to be two very fast moving orange stars at first sight which left an obvious trail as they passed over our house observed by both of us. I then positioned myself to view the event as these passed in front of our house and had time to ask my partner to stand where I was approximately 8 feet away from her initial position and we were able to view the meteors as they burnt out approximately 10 degrees above the eastern horizon. Very exciting and delighted to have shared this experience with her also. She was a little concerned that these may not burn up completely but a fantastic experience.
