I'm a grizzled newcomer to capturing meteor images. For several years I have used the IR night vision of network video cameras to capture bat flight above my pond. On several occasions I captured meteors in the background. I tuned two cameras to capture meteor flight using the IR sensitivity but with the IR illumination of the cameras disabled. The motion detection of the cameras' client software uses a prerecord buffer and works extremely well to capture the entire event. Every clear night I have one or two cameras active and though I only have a small part of the sky covered I have been surprised by the number of meteors I have seen.
