I've been an amateur astronomer since 1972, when I joined the Peoria (Illinois) Astronomical Society and quickly became an active member of that group. In 1984, I moved to the western suburbs of Chicago to work at Triton College's Cernan Earth & Space Center, initially as a planetarium educator and then as its Director. I retired from there in 2015. For years I had dabbled in sky photography, first with my father's Kodak Instamatic camera and then with my own Pentax film SLR. I became a more serious astrophotographer in 2017 with the purchase of an Olympus m4/3 camera. Since my home sky is a bright Bortle 8, my principal targets are the Moon, planets, and Live Composite star trails.
