A bright fireball was spotted in New Zealand on February, 11 2015 around 10 PM NZDT – (11/02/2015 09:00 UT), with sightings from Whangarei in the north all the way to upper South Island.
According to the country’s Weather Watch, the great majority of witnesses reported a huge blinding flash. Call-ins from north of the country also reported sonic booms and even – sometimes – slight shaking.
If you saw this fireball, please report it here.
February is the start of the fireball season, when an abundance of fireballs seem to occur. This lasts well into April and seems to occur mostly during the early evening hours.
